THE WINNERS FOR THE RES AWARDS 2023
Winner
Best (Semi-)public development
ZNA Cadix hospital
As of September 19 2023, the hospital is fully operational with around a thousand employees working there on a daily basis. The hospital wants to deliberately embed itself in the city and step out of the isolation of the classic, enclosed, suburban campus. The building is ‘lifted’ for this purpose and the entire ground level is freed as a public healthcare boulevard. The verticality of the building is intersected with a large number of patios that make the environment on each level enter strongly.
Winner
Best Residential Development
Minerve Edegem
This project involves the transformation of the former Agfa-Gevaert industrial site into a sustainable, mixed residential neighborhood. It accommodates 350 new homes surrounded by 23,500 sqm of greenery. Three park zones, two playgrounds, and a green relaxation area will be interspersed among the residential blocks. Additionally, the area will feature eight communal gardens and 59 private gardens.
Winner
BEST commercial Development
Royal belge
The renovation of Royale Belge’s exceptional site revitalizes an iconic building, and its surrounding 11-hectare park, from Brussels’ urban landscape. Featuring a restaurant, co-working space, hotel, auditorium, fitness & wellness center and offices, the program’s diversity successfully reintegrates the 40,000 sqm building into the city’s urban fabric, transforming it into a real destination for both local and international visitors.
